Thank you Rhapsody

(go check out her delightful blog!) blessed me with an award.
The condition of accepting this award is to first:
  • link back to the presenter    Rhapsody Phoenix
  • share 7 things about yourself
  1. I am comfortable with myself and if you aren't comfortable with who I am as a person... I am old enough not to care, lol.
  2. I love genuine Southern cooking. Not Paula Deen's stuff. Genuine Cajun is okay but it's not Southern-stylin'. Southern cooking is Southern cooking, peeps. Collard greens, turnip greens, black-eyed peas, purple hull peas... nobody in Colorado knows what I'm talking about.
  3. I would be very stubborn with TSA if they messed with me. I don't want to be patted down by strangers and I don't want to be scanned. I'm an American, not the underwear bomber. I guess I'd be detained.
  4. I am a Michael Pollan fan but I can't afford to be one. Read here. Michael Pollan
  5. I miss having a garden. Sometimes it makes me almost crazy, not having a garden to putter in. Plants and flowers bring solace. (along with nasty spiders)
  6. When people tell me "I'm strong, I'm brave, I feel like a fraud. I do not feel strong, brave or .... it seems I am faking it. Or maybe existing.
  7. When I see parents upset with kids in public I want to tell them their child might be gone one day. Be gentle. Be loving. Be kind. Hug more. Talk less. Listen more. I sure wish I had and I thought I was "all that".
Pass on the award -

Herrad, at Access Denied  her perseverance puts me to shame
Santa Mark, at Stars like Grains of Sand in my Pocket who makes my brain hurt in a good way
Thomas, at Living Next Door to Alice for teaching me enormous amounts of gentleness in a short time
Gerry, at Daughters of the Shadow Men who I consider a good email friend/blogger. We share our worries together.

This is only a start - one thing I know for sure is I have left peeps off. I am sure I will kick myself in a bit. At least that kick will get me moving....

Thank you, Sherry, for this award. I am grateful. When I get back home I will claim it on my own computer. You have also implied me to take up writing in my blog again simply because the contents of the videos are lost to the hearing impaired. I find we usually only have a few we actually feel will read what we write and may appreciate it.

Thank you for mentioning me! I'll have to give a little thought to who I want to pass it on to!

Gerry, if you knew how much your emails had done for me... you'd be shocked. =)

You are amazing.

I raised my sons with any number of sayings they can repeat by rote but my favorite (and theirs) is: Treat each other, and everyone you meet, with Love, Kindness and Understanding.

They try.

Good post, Sherry! I could see myself in a lot of it.

I just read your comment on my post, and laughed because I just published a new post today in which I refer to Ron Paul as frail. I don't believe his views are frail--in fact, they are very strong! But his 76 year-old body looks a bit frail to me. I agree with getting our military presence out of other countries, except for South Korea. We really should stick around there and keep our telescopes trained on China. No telling what their new leader might do!!

LOL... I figure since my brain has to hurt I may as well 'spread the love..!' Thanks for the award Sherry and I want you to know that seriously you are one of the few folks that I consider a 'blog hero' and reading your story often enables me to deal with the grind that life sometimes has become for me..!

I really, really, appreciate it... I will have to think about the seven things..! Hope to get that post up this NLT this weekend..!

A well deserved award. Sometimes getting up in the morning requires courage. You have gone through a lot of those days and you are still upright. It makes you a hero in my eyes.

I like you, Sherry, and none of these things surprise me about you, they seem very "you". I've never had real Southern food but I hope to visit the South someday and enjoy some. I wish you had a garden too :(

I'm with you on the TSA thing! Get your hands OFF me. How many middle-aged frumpy ladies are terrorists? If I set off the metal detector, go ahead check me out, but taking off my shoes seems adequate and searching my bags. Ugh.

Barbara, I wonder how many "Terrorists" TSA has caught since it began? =p

Nice, Sherry. And yes, you are quite funny. I like having my garden and we do eat southern food. Have you read Ms. Moon's blog over at Bless Our Hearts (http://www.blessourhearts.net/)? She writes quite a bit about southern things and does a storm of cooking.
