I thought this was a very affecting story. Said so much in a few words. I hope you have a good Mother's day this year, too! At least better than last. I have known so many people whose lives were shattered by young relatives suddenly dying an alcohol related death which can happen as easily as a cigarette can catch a bed on fire, dropped from a young 22 year old cousin's hand on to the sheets who had passed out numerous times before without mishap. And a young 21 year old uncle who had ridden in the rodeo while drinking many times before and survived, but did not this time when he fell head first into a stone. So many ways you can die forever from being out of it while drinking. Or drugging for that matter, doing anything with the capacity to turn lethal due to lack of attention or caution.
Very well said, I'm glad you put this out there. I thought of you this morning. I was thinking "well, another year with my son in jail for Mother's Day" Then I stopped and thought of you.... :(
