A whine first: I miss having energy. Normally I have the house unpacked in a week or so but not this time. So much to unpack.
You won't believe it but I immediately started noticing what was missing. We had two semi's and a truck full of stuff delivered AND it is not all there. Where's this? Where's that? The missing items really bother me. Nicole's large blue turtle is gone. So is the marvelous scrapbook I did - her last fortune cookie, her library card, her social security card and more are in that book. I want it back. A collection of mementos cannot be replaced.
Bekins admits we are missing 1800 pounds. They will search, they say through a warehouse full of crates. We're missing what I call "Nicole's crate". There were 14 crates but only 11 showed up.
Someone was looking after us I think as we would NOT have gotten everything in the other houses we failed to get. This one is rapidly becoming full. A nice, home-y kind of full. We have a guest room if anyone wants to visit. =)
A garage sale is planned - multiple sets of silverware, pots n' pans, mixers, blenders and MORE dominate our garage. No room for the cars!
Of course going through everything creates problems. I ended up with five sets of measuring spoons. Normal people keep the ones they like best. I struggle between keeping the "best set" if Nicole things are in the mix or letting something that BELONGS to Nicole go.
I am not ready to let it go, I just got it back...
Nicole's measuring spoons and the "final choice" both go in the drawer. Multiple that by glassware, dishes, pots n' pans and you will see my problem...
Not rational, not at all.

Rational and emotions do not live at all comfortably with each other. And on balance I would rather spend time with people who let their emotions dictate what they do, than with people who always behave rationally.
Lots of times when people say they are "just being rational" it really means: I am a bloodless, indifferent bitch.
I like that you aren't a bloodless, indifferent bitch.
Rational is over rated.
And geez, that is a LOT of stuff that got lost!
Hope your things turn up soon. I can see your predicament about what to keep.

I guess that I don't understand how a moving company can lose 1800 lbs. of stuff. How does this kind of thing happen?
